On the 20th April 2016 we went on a visit to the farm. The children were very excited to travel on a coach and we all wore a special high visibility jacket. Children and staff travelled on 3 coaches and arrived at the farm around 10:00am. IMG_2497IMG_2496

Firstly we played on the play area and in the sand pits before our farmer came to show us around the stables and the birds of prey, where we saw a barn owl and gave it some food.

We then went to have some lunch and it was a lovely sunny day so we all sat outside and ate our packed lunches by the barns.

Once we had eaten our lunch we then went to feed the ducks and sang them their favourite song which was “#Five little ducks went swimming one day”. We also gave them their favourite food which was some cereal.

We then visited the goats and gave them some porridge oats for lunch which they ate out of our hand, it tickled lots!

After we had fed them all we went to see the chickens, some of them were only a few days old. We were all given the chance to stroke the baby chicks and have the ‘Fritzel’ chicken on our knee. We sang the chickens a song to make them lay us an egg each and it worked! We then collected an egg each and placed it in a cup to bring back to nursery.

We had a little walk to have quick look at the horses and the pigs as we walked through the pig sty, they were all having an afternoon nap in the sun! We even got to see some baby piglets that were drinking their mommy’s milk.

We then saw the sheep that were very hungry so we gave them some cereal that we collected from our farmer. They were very hungry and ate it all up! We even got to see some baby lambs doing some tricks with the farmers that was really exciting to watch!

To finish the day off we washed our hands to make them nice and clean using lots of soap before getting back on our coach to nursery. Everybody was so tired and some children even had a little sleep on the journey home. I think its safe to say everyone had a busy day full of learning and a lovely day was had by all!
