elaindupreeWelcome from our Head Teacher

The Nursery is a LA Maintained Nursery School. Featherstone Nursery School has been in operation for many years and is situated on the same site as Featherstone Children’s Centre, which is the Lead Body for the Children’s Centres in Erdington.

Our Nursery School is a 70-place Nursery School offering both 25 hour and 15 hour part-time places.  Children are generally admitted in the term after their third birthday (depending on available spaces). We also admit some children in the term of their third birthday according to criteria set locally.  We employ qualified teachers and teaching assistants who work closely together to provide an exciting curriculum which inspires and motivates children to learn.

Our mission statement is “It takes a whole community to raise a child” we work closely with parents and families to enable our children to reach their potential and to become independent learners and thinkers. We also work closely with partner agencies within our locality to provide services and activities through our Children’s Centres to support local families. For more information on our Children’s Centre services and activities please visit their website at www.erdingtonlocality.uk.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum; providing a balance of child initiated and adult led activities in an environment that enables and empowers children to learn through play and exploration both indoors and outside. We want our children to develop a love of learning; to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem, with a willingness to “have-a-go” and a “can do attitude” that will enable them to gain positive attitudes and dispositions to take forward into their primary school education.

We are proud of the multicultural nature of our school and our staff are committed to promoting inclusion and equality meaning that all children are valued as individuals and we encourage them to show respect for the environment; for each other and for the views and beliefs of all.

You will find staff approachable, understanding and responsive; always focused on doing their best for your child and family. We want you and your child to have a happy time with us; to feel included and valued so:

Welcome to Featherstone Nursery School!

I hope that you will find this website useful and we would value your feedback so that we can continue to improve it!
