End of year letter from Chair

July 2021

Dear Parents and carers,

At this time of year, the governing board looks back and reflects on the past school year. Considers what has been done to fulfil our core responsibilities as governors and how this can be built on for the future. We also take this time to thank you the wonderful parents/carers and children, within and around our school community, who have contributed however large or small to the wellbeing of our school and pupils.

Sadly, once again, we have experienced a ‘different type’ of nursery with the ever-changing covid crisis. Throughout which, nursery remained covid secure and implemented all DfE and PHE guidance.

Partly due to the fantastic partnerships our head continues to strive for with the following: Erdington Schools Collaboration, Birmingham Nursery Schools Trust and BAMNS. Enabling all involved to discuss and share ideas on how to maintain the safety of all staff and children. While also building on the shared leadership with Osborne Nursery School through which, 100% of staff feel brings benefits such as, improved working and support along with enhanced focus on the learning environments and special educational needs provision, to our school. But mainly due to our remarkable staff team who took the changes in their stride, remaining a constant for the children while creating fun and stimulating environments for them to learn.

Due to the pandemic, for most of the year, as governors we have held virtual meetings and visits. However, over the last few weeks we managed covid secure in person visits. It was a pleasure to see the children highly engaged, well behaved and using their developing language skills brilliantly.

On behalf of the governing board, I hope you all have a wonderful summer break and look forward to seeing those returning next year. For those moving onto reception I would like to wish you all the best and hope you enjoy your next phase of education.

Kind regards,

Abi Cartmale

Chair of Governors
