Children who are aged 3 or 4 at our nursery school are eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) if their families meet certain criteria.

This extra funding of around £300 per child per year will be spent in a variety of ways to support your children’s learning and development. You will be asked to complete an application form for EYPP alongside the other forms required to register for our nursery school. The aim of the Early Years Pupil Premium is to close the gap between children from disadvantaged backgrounds and other  children by providing additional funding to settings such as ours, therefore providing the opportunity to raise the quality of provision we offer.

Our Early Years Pupil Premium Strategy is reviewed each year during a summer term Governors’ Meeting.

What are the main barriers to achievement faced by our children?

Many of our children who are eligible for EYPP face one or more of the following barriers to achievement:

  1. They are in a low-income family who cannot afford to give their children the wide range of experiences others can which extend their vocabulary
  2. They have poor speech and language
  3. They have English as an additional language
  4. They have low wellbeing or self-confidence

How will EYPP be used?

EYPP funding will be used to subsidise visits and visitors for EYPP children to ensure they can attend these additional activities.

It will also be spent on ensuring staffing levels enable the groups listed below to take place throughout the year to ensure all children make rapid progress and close any gaps in their learning.
