Trip to Sutton park 11.10.16 + 13.10.16

This week we have been talking lots about autumn time at nursery. On Tuesday and Thursday this week we went on a trip to Sutton park.

Before we left nursery we had to talk about how to stay safe on our way to the park so Mrs Forty told us all about the jackets that we was going to be wearing called ‘high visibility’ jackets and we spoke briefly about road safety.

We then walked down to Gravelly hill train station to buy our train tickets. We had to get the train from platform 2 towards Four Oaks. The train that we had to get on was a green train. When the train arrived we had to get on safely holding our adults hand then sit on the seat and hold on tight.

We travelled on the train for about 10 minutes before we arrived in Sutton Coldfield. We had a nice walk down to Sutton park and when we got there we were all rather hungry so we stopped for a quick snack before we explored the play area.

Once we had all had a little play on the play area we went to find the ducks. We each fed them some bread for their breakfast which we had to break up into tiny pieces for their tiny mouths. we saw some geese and some swans along with lots of smaller ducks.

After we had fed the ducks we went on a hunt to find lots of autumn treasure in the woods. We found lots of things that we are going to talk about at nursery next week. We also saw a few squirrels and also a few dogs.

IMG_2950After our hunt we then went and had some lunch. Before we could eat our lunch we had to go to wash our hands in the visitors centre. In the visitors centre we saw lots of historical information about Sutton park and also information about all of the different creatures you might find there.

We all brought our own packed lunches, they were very tasty!

After we had finished our lunch we went down to the play area before heading back to Sutton Coldfield train station to catch our train back to Gravelly hill. Our legs were very tried on the way home but we all did good walking back to nursery.

We all had a lovely time on our trip to Sutton park but it wouldn’t have been possible without all of our adult and parent helpers. From everyone at Featherstone we would like to say  a big thank you to everyone that volunteered to help out.
